Zusammenfassung

Wired networks exploit concurrent transmissions already for a long time, i.e. for bitwise arbitration, guaranteeing a deterministic medium access and therefore the absence of collisions. Black bursts, a relatively unexplored field in research, can be used to provide collision resistant, concurrent transmission in wireless ad-hoc networks, offering new possibilities for media access and time-synchronization. This paper covers the evaluation of black burst transmissions. We describe the basics of clear channel assessment that forms the base of black burst transmissions. We also present a methodology to realize dominant and recessive bits in scenarios with concurrent transmissions. Finally, we proof the applicability of black burst transmissions using data collected in real world experiments.
